The promotion will be of key interest to collectors of state-of-the art watches, but none more so than the ultra-exclusive Italian-made Panerai timepieces. Every year, Panerai, a world leader in precision watch-making since 1860 in Florence, Italy, produces a very limited run of watches (about 60,000 worldwide). Panerai timepieces are priced from $5,500 to an undisclosed amount. The Riviera Collection also showcases a 7.49 ct square Asscher cut (stepped square cut) white diamond engagement ring featuring another 2 ct of micro-set diamonds on its sides. C.J. Charles Jewelers also buys estate jewelry, fine jewelry, fine watches and diamonds and accepts trades of watches and jewelry.
The “335″ is another iconic Tavannes model, introduced in the late 1920s, and named for the movement Caliber inside the watch. The elongated movement allowed for a more streamlined case, and room for a longer mainspring which gave the watch a three-day running time, an amazing feat for its day about Cartier and the Art Deco style that Aaron Rubin a fellow Art Deco Society member did a wonderful job at. When it comes to a lecture even the most interesting subject can be boring if not presented well. But, Aaron had no problem presenting the lecture in a interesting and extremely enjoyable way.
I get old Pateks once in a while that have an old band on them, but I don’t know if it’s the original band. These watches may come from the 1940s and maybe the band was put on in the ’60s, so it’s still 40 years old. The watch table had lines snaking out the door. We started at 8 a.m. and went until 8 that night, with 15 minutes off for lunch. I had no voice left at the end of the day. The way I do appraisals, I feel I have to open things up to see what’s in them. Not everybody does that.
The company early on saw the market potential for wristwatches, producing finished models as early as 1905. By the 1910s, it was producing Calibers specifically manufactured for wristwatches, while most other companies were still using pocket watch movements adopted (some rather crudely) for conversion into wristwatches. One of the first wristwatches we see is a Tavannes wristwatch made for the U.S. Signal Corps. I am very much a “watch guy”. If you’re reading aBlogtoWatch, then chances are high that you’d consider yourself to be a member of the same club. But it’s worth noting that within our niche group of horologically inclined individuals, there are several sub-categories of watch enthusiasts.
ALL of OUR PRE-OWNED watches have been AUTHENTICATED by a team of professionals during the initial purchase, service or consignment process, and after dealing with all makes and models for over 30 years, we do not let any “fakes” or “questionable origin” pieces even near our stores and certainly will not sell any – Better Business Bureau (BBB) A+ rating is just another proof of that. Our grading system is very conservative and we often underrate the condition of our watches, so that you would be pleasantly surprised when it arrives.
